Vanuatu Sportfishing & Game Fishing
Vanuatu offers some of the best reef and deep sea fishing in the South Pacific. Sports and game anglers pull in marlin, wahoo, dorado, yellowfin tuna, swordfish and a host of other fighting fish. Whether you enjoy just dangling a line for a few hours or getting out there and going for a record, we can assist.
While we look after the travel side, our fishing packages have been put together by Peter and Leanne at Nautilus. They run a friendly and professional fishing, diving and parasailing operation right from Port Vila town. You have a choice of many untouched reefs of Efate, Mele Bay or out on the 'marlin highway' aboard Wild Blue, the 9 metre, covered deck Reef Master fishing vessel (no toilet on this one) or Jay-R, the 28ft Bertram Game Boat (all the luxury's of home) or one of the purpose built reef fishing vessels.
With reef fishing the catch could include huge Giant Trevally, Queenfish, Coral Trout, Mangrove Jack or Green Jobfish and for Game Fishing, troll along the fringing reefs or out to sea for Bonito, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Dogtooth Tuna and Marlin. There's also Broadbill and Dogtooth tuna fishing at night. Nautilus also targets the schools of Sailfish that can frequent Vanuatu's waters (some of these species are seasonal).
The trips on Wild Blue cater for up to a maximum of 8 anglers (Game Fishing 6 anglers max) and for Jay-R they don't recommend any more than 5 guests at any one time to ensure a great, uncrowded atmosphere.
Game Fishing vessels come equipped with 5 X Shimano (Tiagra) 50s and Shimano Custom built rods, Shimano Tiagra 30's, TLD25s and fully rollered rods, Out Riggers, Rod Racks, Gaffs, Tagging gear, Black Magic and Braid Gimble Belts and Game Harnesses, Reelax 130Kg Game Chair & Belts & a large selections of lures, baits etc. to suit the type of fishing. They also specialise in Live Baiting and Cubing.
Reef Fishing gear includes 8 X Jarvis Walker Rods & Reels, Bait, Burley & associated equipment. They can also include Scuba Diving in your fishing trip. Dive a sea mound then fish it!
For serious anglers we can design packages from 4 days to 7 days and organise/book some terrific activities for the 'rest days' when you're not out in the boat pulling in big ones and pulling a few back muscles. If you have partners who aren't keen on joining you on the boat, we can also organise/book activities for them.
On Espiritu Santo, Mal Davies from Santo Island Dive & Fishing offers half and full day inshore fishing trips around Aore Island (beach lunch provided on full day trips).
There are resorts for couples, families or just a bunch of blokes wanting to get amongst some big fish. For every four anglers, the 5th fishes free (or you get 20% off by spreading the cost of the free person). And if you have a group of, say, ten people, it can be fun to grab 2 boats and have a competition out in the wild blue ocean.
