Dining & Eating Out In Vanuatu

Dining out should be part of every visitor's Vanuatu experience. There are more restaurants in and around Port Vila than you can poke a fork at... well, around 30 actually... but when you combine fresh local seafood and excellent local beef with creative chefs you have the best dining in the South Pacific.
If you would like to pre-book a dining experience (e.g. a two course lunch or dinner for two with a bottle of wine and transfers) we can book this with Chantilly's on the Bay, Tamanu on the Beach, The Officer's Club at Benjor Beach Club, Paradise Cove or Bungalow:Ate at Sunset Bungalows.
Gourmet beach or waterfall picnics can also be arranged - just email us. If you require reliable transfers between your resort and restaurant before/after dinner, give Friendly Tours a call on 47 197.
Here are just some of the dining options:
For dinner perhaps...
- Bungalow:Ate (Sunset Bungalows): Superb lagoon location with an excellent chef
- Tilly's: Tapas, NZ lamb, eclectic blackboard menu overlooking the harbour
- L'Houstalet: Vila's most famous French restaurant (host Clement Martinez hasn't changed the menu in 30 years - if it ain't broke...)
- Les Alizes: Chef Paul-Alexandre speaks little English but speaks volumes with his culinary skills
- Cafe du Village: Waterfront, al fresco, French (great sashimi)
- Michener's: Iririki Island Resort's signature restaurant looking back over the water to Port Vila town
- Le Lagon: There is now an Asian Fusion restaurant and teppanyaki bar (Wild Ginger)
- Chez Willies: Good food and decor with host Lesley, Vanuatu's best waiter (re-opens Nov 15 2007)
- Tropik Bistro: A favourite with the French expatriates
For lunch perhaps...
- Tamanu on the Beach: Arguably Vila's finest in a great location overlooking the beach and ocean
- Paradise Cove: Another harbourside spot for fine Italian - take a towel for a swim or snorkel
- Roxy's on the Lagoon: Erakor Island Resort's restaurant sitting right on the lagoon
- The Officer's Club: Excellent restaurant on Devil's Point Road for a lazy lunch (especially after working up an appetite at Mele Cascades)
- Breaka's Beach Resort: Dine on the terrace and take a towel for a swim from the beach or in the pool
- The Waterfront Bar and Grill: Casual ambience with clinking masts and a resident cat, good for lunch or dinner
- Chill Restaurant & Bar: Upstairs harbourside near the markets - great view, food and value with the 990 vatu (AUD12) lunch special that includes a soft drink, beer or glass of wine.
These are just some of the options. We provide all our guests with a more comprehensive dining guide (restaurants, cafes and nightspots) and the phone number for a local driver in case a long lunch leads to walking being a challenge. And watch this space - the legendary Rossi restaurant will reappear soon. Bon appetit!
